Yew Search

Run it yourself

One Docker Compose file. Your hardware. Nobody else's server.

Why self-host

The homelab community has already proven this works for photo storage, password managers, and home automation. Search across your own email, sites, and files is no different - it's your data, so it runs on your infrastructure, not someone else's.

What it takes

  • A single Docker Compose file - Postgres, OpenSearch, backend, and frontend, all included
  • Runs on modest hardware, including a Raspberry Pi 4
  • Vector search is optional - text search alone works without running an embedding model at all
  • Put your own reverse proxy (Traefik, Caddy, nginx) in front for TLS - that part is yours to configure, since it depends on how you're exposing it

Free, for real

Self-hosting for personal use costs nothing and stays that way - that's not an introductory offer. See the licensing page for exactly what that does and doesn't cover.
